Cotton and Junior ... home since Friday night!

They've made themselves at home and seem to be adjusting well. We went on a roadtrip to PetSmart and Cotton decided he loves car rides and being able to have the window down -- around the neighborhood, mind you! Since they've had a rough start and lived in a bathroom for a long while ... well, we are having a few bathroom issues. We go outside quite frequently ... but still, I'll spare you the details. I have a year's contract with Kiwi ... I think they need to come and steam clean my bedroom! I had the baby gate up so they were limited to the kitchen and master bedroom ... and where did they sleep? Yes, in bed with me ... we'll see if they'll sleep alone tonight. They are napping on the couch ... their all time favorite spot at the moment. Unfortunately, they will not get full run of the house without supervision!

Missy the Cocker Spaniel
Friends of Montgomery County Tx Animal Shelter provided a needed surgery for Missy - the Cocker Spaniel! Missy is currently with the Cocker Spaniel Rescue group.
Missy had her surgery last Wednesday to correct her congenital bilateral luxating patellas (floating kneecaps). She is recovering very well. Hers were deviated laterally and required surgery to actually create a knee groove to secure the caps in place....one required a pin but the other didn't. She is putting weight on both legs and seems to be out of pain. Here are some pics sporting her soft casts (have skid-proof baby socks over them).

Black girl with one brown eye and one blue eye.

Husky mix, was an owner surrender call, Lady, only 7 months old, she spent 1 month fighting for her life at a FMCTAS members home, was hospitalized twice and finally pulled through, she is now healthy and adopted!.

Bella

A spectacular white and brown 4 month old puppy with a brown patch in her eye. We lost all her siblings. She made it. She is now healthy and adopted.

Boston - Adopted!

Boston was a stray and spent all his youth at the shelter. He was never adopted. He jumped out of a Jeeps window when being transported to an off-site adoption and broke his leg. FMCTAS paid for two operations, fostered him for 3 months and is now in a forever home.

Harley - Saved and Adopted!

She came to Montgomery County Animal Shelter, injured on Friday April 18th, some teenagers said they found her in the street. She was rushed by a member of FMCTAS to Oak Ridge vet clinic where Dr. Schneider, without previous appointment, received her and operated on her. She was released the next morning to a FMCTAS foster mom, who needed to attend a Harley Davidson event at The Woodlands dealership that day, to promote FMCTAS and Shelter. The 4 month old puppy was seen by many and adopted by a nice couple from Spring. They named her Harley and is being nurished back to health by her new mom Barbara.

Chloe

Chloe came to the shelter in February of 2008. She is really sweet and would have gone into adoption immediately, but everyone thought she was pregnant. A wonderful foster mom took her home with her to wait for the babies to be born, but the foster mom soon became concerned. Chloe did not look well so off she went for a visit with the doctor.
The doctor soon found that Chloe was not pregnant at all, but had a bacterial infection of the uterus called pyometra. This was very painful and scary for Chloe. The doctors had to operate immediately to save Chloe's life and the wonderful people from Friends of Montgomery County Animal Shelter stepped up and paid for all of her medical expenses! After surgery and a course of antibiotics, Chloe was feeling much better. She still does not like her belly touched, but loves attention! She is very vocal and loves to hold conversations with her people.

Charlie, Mystic, and Sandy

Charlie (Orange), Mystic (black) and Sandy (Cream) came to the shelter in late March. They had no mommy to care for them and they had not even opened their eyes yet! Everyone thought they would not make it, but Mr. Mark called this wonderful lady who came and took them home. Soon they had full bellies and a warm spot to sleep and while they missed mommy, they were happy again. They grew fast, but things did
get a bit scary because Mystic hurt his shoulder and had to go to the doctor. The wonderful people at Friends of Montgomery County Animal Shelter paid for all of his medical expenses. It took several weeks, but Mystic was soon feeling much better. Next week, Charlie, Mystic and Sandy are going to stay with S.M.A.R.T. rescue who is going to work hard to find them their forever home.
